Air Source Heat Pumps
& Heating System Design

Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air to heat your home and hot water. By the use of a refrigerant cycle, the heat output is greater than the electricity input, making it an energy efficient method of heating your home.

A heat pump is only as efficient as the system to which it is connected. This dictates the heating flow temperature required to heat the property in cold weather, and is directly related to the running cost of the system. We always endeavour to design a system to heat the property at the lowest possible flow temperature with a balance to be struck between the installation cost and the on-going running cost. We select from a range of heat pump manufacturers and models to provide a bespoke solution for each property.

Each project begins with a full survey and consultation followed by a room by room heat loss calculation and performance estimate. At this stage we can also identify and look to andvise and resolve any constraints to the proposed installation. These may include: Insufficient electrical supply to the property, Lack of a suitable location for the heat pump, Planning or local regulatory constraints, Insufficient existing heating system requiring upgrade for efficient operation, Potential insulation and thermal upgrades.

A typical retro fit heat pump installation includes:

  • Heat pump unit located externally.

  • New hot water cylinder

  • Buffer vessel or volumizer

  • Pipework, wiring and control

  • Upgraded radiators and pipework

  • Any associated remedial works (Carried out by our sister company, N&J Meadham Ltd)

New Builds and refurbishments

With a new build or major refurbishment project we offer a design and installation service to produce a highly efficient heating system to suit the bespoke needs of the property. This can include underfloor heating, traditional radiators, integration with smart controls and other technologies, full plumbing installation package.

We can also offer PV and battery storage systems which, in conjunction with time of use electricity tariffs can greatly reduce the cost of running a heat pump.

We always aim to provide the highest levels of comfort with the lowest possible running cost.

Accreditations and Grants

  • MCS registered with NAPIT and members of the HIES consumer code.

  • OFGEM registered with the ability to apply for the boiler upgrade scheme (BUS) grant* on your behalf. *EPC Required (We can arrange this for you)

  • manufacturer specific training has been carried out for all heat pump products supplied, giving full extended warranties.
